Lady Gaga Confirms: "I'm Going to Be the First Recording Artist to Sing in Space" By Nivel

Lady Gaga is officially going galactic! After Us Weekly exclusively broke the news last week, the 27-year-old singer confirmed to reporters on Sunday, Nov. 11 that she will, indeed, be the first artist to sing in outer space in early 2015.

During her artRave presentation at Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York City, Gaga explained to reporters how she secured a ticket on Virgin Galactic to travel to space.

"I did not buy a ticket. No my ticket was given to me. I was asked specifically to sing," she said. "So I'm going to be the first recording artist to sing in space. And I did not purchase my flight. This is a special festival event held by Zero G Colony and I will be flying to space two months after the first commercial flights take off."

As for her thoughts about performing in zero gravity? "I have to check out the specs," she said, "and I'll let you know."

exclusively revealed on Wednesday, Nov. 6 that the "Applause" singer will perform a single track during the Zero G Colony high-tech musical festival in New Mexico. Gaga's performance is set to take place on the third day of the festival at dawn.

"She has to do a month of vocal training because of the atmosphere," a source told Us. Just in case anything goes wrong, an insider added: "Gaga has taken out a ridiculous life insurance policy!"
